Expert Review
Joubert Okoume is the gold standard in marine plywood — BS1088 certified and trusted by boat builders worldwide.
Material Quality
Okoume (Aucoumea klaineana) is a tropical African hardwood prized for its exceptional weight-to-strength ratio. At just 430 kg/m³, it's one of the lightest marine-grade plywoods available — critical for boat building where every pound matters. The A/B face is smooth with the characteristic pinkish-orange Okoume color.
BS1088 Certification
This is the real deal — independently certified to BS1088:2003, the international standard for marine plywood. This means: void-free construction, WBP adhesive tested to 72-hour boil, and face veneer meeting strict quality requirements. Not all "marine plywood" on Amazon meets this standard.
Boat Building Application
The 6mm thickness is standard for small boat planking, bulkheads, and interior panels. The WBP glue ensures zero delamination even with permanent water exposure. Epoxy bonds exceptionally well to the Okoume surface.
⚠️ Note
Must be sealed with epoxy or marine varnish before water exposure. Okoume is not naturally rot-resistant — the marine rating comes from the adhesive and construction, not the wood species itself.

Beautiful pinkish-orange Okoume grain. Smooth A-grade face takes finish well. Attractive but must be sealed.
