Tooling Strategies: Combatting the Silica

When your table saw blade or CNC router bit cuts through a eucalyptus core panel, it is essentially cutting microscopic glass.

- Cool Your Tools: Keep your dust extraction running at peak capacity. Moving air cools the cutter and removes abrasive silica dust before it can pack into the cut path and cause friction.

Transshipment and Customs Scrutiny
When sourcing Vietnamese plywood, woodshops must be aware of the geopolitical risks. Because of the high tariffs on Chinese wood, some Chinese manufacturers have attempted to transship panels through Vietnam, adding a simple face veneer and exporting them to the US as "Vietnamese Plywood."
The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) closely monitors these imports. If a shipment is suspected of containing Chinese components that violate anti-dumping duties, the entire container can be seized, and the importer of record (which could include the local distributor or buyer) can face massive fines. Always purchase Vietnamese plywood from reputable distributors who can prove their supply chain is 100% compliant with origin regulations.
