1. Core Quality and Voids:

• *Home Center Plywood:* Typically has interior voids (gaps in the middle plies). If you cut a sheet into small pieces, the edges may crumble or expose holes.
• *Lumberyard Plywood:* Offers void-free cores (specifically Baltic Birch or cabinet-grade maple). Every layer is solid wood, perfect for clean exposed edges.

1. Face Veneer Thickness:

• *Home Center Plywood:* The face veneer is extremely thin (often less than 1/32"). If you sand it too aggressively with 150-grit paper, you will burn through the veneer, exposing the ugly glue layer underneath.
